Minecraft Dungeons was launched on 26 May after being delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The fans had mixed reactions about the game. It is nothing like the open-world experience of the original ‘Minecraft’. Sure it has all the shrubbery, blocks, and the ‘mobs’ exactly like in ‘Minecraft.’ But, it also has a storyline, an antagonist, a protagonist, and missions. Something fans haven’t experienced in the original game.

Developed by Mojang Studios, ‘Minecraft Dungeons ’was originally supposed to be a single-player dungeon crawl game. Game director Måns Olsen mentions that the title was inspired by ‘The Legend of Zelda’, ‘Diablo’, and ‘Left 4 Dead’ & even ‘Warhammer. According to Olsen, he wanted to make the game “super easy” and “instantly familiar.”

The story is based around the ‘Arch-Illager’ who with the ‘Orb of Dominance’ is wreaking havoc everywhere. He and his minions are destroying those who oppose him. It is your job to fight your way through and defeat him, restoring peace to the Minecraft world. Seems pretty straight-forward, doesn’t it? That is one of the reasons a lot of fans found it rather disappointing. However, if you’re bored with the offline mode, you can also play with your buddies online in the co-op mode.

Minecraft Dungeons DLC

Mojang has already announced its first DLC for the game just a month after its release. Minecraft correspondent Sofia Dankis writes

“That’s right, the first Dungeons DLC is on its way! Jungle Awakens will be released on July 1, so get ready to battle new mobs such as the Leapleaf and Whisperer before ultimately saving the day by defeating the Jungle Abomination. For those of you who already bought the Hero Edition, all of this is included! Don’t worry, you can always upgrade your standard game with the Hero Pass. Hooray! Sorry, I mean hero-ay! What, you think that’s a bad joke? I don’t have time to craft my usual high-quality puns for you because I have a jungle outfit to perfect and pandas to admire from afar”
