Shaquille O’Neal has not only proved himself on the court but also as a parent. The NBA Hall of Famer is a proud father of six children. He has been supportive of each one of them and has helped them prosper in life. Shaq has always encouraged his kids to work harder as individuals and have fun. Despite the Big Aristotle being extremely supportive as a father, his youngest and less popular son, Shaqir O’Neal is still nervous about his father stepping into his college premises. Shaq addressed the issue on his Big Podcast recently.

In the recent episode of his podcast, the Big Diesel spoke about the impact his presence had on Shaqir’s game whenever Shaq visited his college games. Currently, Shaqir plays forward for Texas Southern University (TSU). He recently made his collegiate debut in San Francisco.

The Lakers legend spent his weekend watching his youngest son play. He credited the TSU basketball team for their game during the podcast. He said, “Little kids are playing so hard, I was like damn, I ain’t never played that hard in college.”

Shaqir is nervous around Shaquille O’Neal during games

During the podcast, co-host Nischelle Turner asked Shaq about Shaqir’s reaction to his father coming to watch him play the game, “Your kid, does he get nervous? Does he puff up his chest a little more?” In response, Shaq said, “They definitely get nervous when I’m there because they think I’m looking for perfection.” He further went on to express what he expects from his kids with a piece of few words of advice. Shaq said, “I just want them to play hard and have fun.

He further cautioned his kids not to be like him. “Your daddy is an alien“, claimed Shaq. By ‘Alien’ he meant his mentality was somewhat insane, like that of other All-Time greats like him.

In an interview, a while ago, the Big Diesel had said that he would help his kids with their business prospects but expects hard work in return. He also believed in nepotism if it’s done in the right way.

Shaq has been setting an example as a father raising his six kids the hard way. However, he still encourages his sons to have fun on the basketball court, instead of taking everything to heart.
