As season 5 of the Formula E championship rages on, a new competitor has joined the fray. Namely, HWA Racelabs, a subsidiary of Mercedes. In the following season, HWA will be replaced by Mercedes.
The German manufacturing giant already has a finger in many pies and Formula E is the latest. They will soon be joined by Porsche in the upcoming season. Earlier today, Mercedes unveiled a stunning concept livery adorning the Gen 2 car.
The new Formula E showcar gives you a feeling that can only be described as ELECTRIC⚡️!#GIMSSWISS #MBGIMS19 #SwitchtoEQ

The livery largely resembles the HWA colour scheme, albeit with a darker shade of black. All in all, it looks gorgeous and hopefully, they will have better success than HWA at the moment.

HWA’s current crop of drivers includes Stoffel Vandoorne and Gary Paffett. Both drivers have struggled so far this season, however, Vandoorne has shown promise. The Belgian driver has qualified in the top 5 a couple of times so far and shows plenty of talent.
Sadly, it is looking like a case of ‘the qualifier must learn to race’. This is because their race craft has left something to be desired. Hopefully for their sake and Mercedes’ sake, they get to the bottom of their issues.
