From winning his first amateur championship in 2011 in the form of Junior Heritage to getting his first PGA Tour card in 2019, Matthew (Matt) NeSmith has achieved a lot. Hailing from the charming city of North Augusta, located in the US state of beautiful countryside, South Carolina, Matthew NeSmith was born on September 29, 1993, to Darren and Beth Smith. Now, a famous professional golfer, Matthew NeSmith, always had a keen interest in golf since his childhood.
NeSmith had a specific liking for the Masters Tournament while growing up, as between the time period when he was just an eight-year-old kid and the time of leaving his college, he attended every edition of the championship. The 30-year-old also has a memorable first memory from the Masters; it was getting clicked with Bernhard Langer.

About the college life of Matt NeSmith: he was a sociology student at the University of South Carolina, where he graduated in 2016. He made history as the first Gamecock to earn PING First Team All-America honors. He also distinguished himself as a semi-finalist for the prestigious Ben Hogan and Jack Nicklaus awards.
Talking about NeSmith’s training partner at the early stages of his life, it was his father and later he used to train with a member of the South Carolina Golf Hall of Fame, Jackie Seawell. How has Matthew NeSmith’s journey been on the greens?
Taking a glimpse at NeSmith’s performance as an amateur, in 2012, he was victorious Azalea Invitational, FJ Invitational, and Rolex Tournament of Champions. Talking about his amateur wins, his 2015 win was at the Players Amateur while in 2016, he conquered the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Invite, and the General Hackler Championship.
After graduating from college in 2016, his journey as a professional golfer started, and he went on to play the Mackenzie Tour. A couple of years later, he made his debut on the Korn Ferry Tour and earned his PGA Tour card after excelling and getting crowned at the Albertsons Boise Open in 2019.

Now, shedding light on some of the best performances that NeSmith has manifested since joining the PGA Tour in 2020, he finished the 2021 edition of the Phoenix Open at T7. Another one would be from 2022 at the Valspar Championship, where Matthew NeSmith recorded another of the best PGA Tour finishes. He ended with a tie for the third position, missing the playoff between Sam Burns, and Davis Riley by a single stroke.
