And with a documentary about the former shortstop titled ‘The Captain’ slated to be released this July, he has leaped into the social media pond at the perfect time to promote it. With Jeter simultaneously activating his profiles on both Instagram as well as Twitter on the same day, ESPN jumped onto the opportunity of tagging the superstar as the hype builds to its crescendo.

Jeter sure has had a swell time while with the New York Yankees. Starting in MLB in 1995, he has secured his legacy with not just individual laurels but also some incredible team achievements. Top among them are the five titles that he has secured while donning the pinstripes. The Instagram post, published by ESPN’s official handle, also tags Derek Jeter’s new profile as the trailer progresses. Featuring shots of a young Derek Jeter right from his childhood years to walking out in Yankee Stadium donning the classic #2.

Featuring several key members of Jeter’s journey in his career, the trailer features interviews with these individuals cut together with game footage from his time in the Bronx. The docu-series is set up to be a 7-part chronicle which will start airing on the 16th of July.

A fairly candid affair, Jeter’s featured interviews see him really open up. Says Jeter, “If there were phones back then, my career would have been 3 years long.”

The trailer also sees Jeter not mince his words at all. Says Jeter, “The one thing with me, I’m very loyal. But loyalty one way is just stupidity.”
