Following the Brazilian Grand Prix 2019 qualifying, Max Verstappen grabbed pole position, ahead of Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton. During the press conference, an amusing incident occurred, involving Verstappen.

While introducing the drivers, the press officer mentioned that Verstappen has scored his second pole position. At that moment, Max Verstappen simply raised three fingers and indicated that he had 3 poles.

If we are looking at technicalities, then Verstappen did take three pole positions. However, he was penalised three places for a yellow flag infringement in Mexico. At that time, Valtteri Bottas had crashed out in the final corner in the dying stages.

However, in spite of yellow flags, Max Verstappen floored it and snatched pole position. Although there was no harm done, the stewards were not particularly impressed and slapped him with a grid penalty.

Coming back to the Brazilian Grand Prix 2019 press conference, Verstappen confessed that he still considered that Mexican GP lap as pole position.

On a different note, talking about the lap itself, Verstappen said, “I think the last few races have already been quite strong. I think from today we changed the car a but from yesterday and it seemed to work really well and especially in qualifying it really came alive. It had really good balance. Already in Q2 it felt really good.”

“The last lap was pretty decent. It was alright. There are always things you can do better, but it was good enough.”

Speaking about his expectations for Sunday’s race, Verstappen revealed that he was happy with the car. On Friday, their pace was decent and in qualifying there was more improvement. So, he surmised that it should also be better in the race, though he and the team will have to test out that theory later on.

Finally, when Sebastian Vettel hinted at something suspicious about the Red Bull straight-line speed, Verstappen laughed “For once its you!”
