Max Verstappen was on a pretty decent lap at the qualifying session at the Marina Bay Grand Prix Circuit. However, he had to abort his pole position attempt to reserve fuel for the FIA’s mandatory fuel test.

Verstappen was one course to obliterate Leclerc’s provisional pole time. However, a mistake in the 3rd sector meant he had to abort the lap and push for a final flying run. On his final run, he was again up on Leclerc’s time. Nevertheless, his team asked him to box.

Seeing this, fans asked why Red Bull called the Dutch Lion into the pits when he was clearly on a lap that could have gotten him pole position for Sunday.

As you’d expect, Verstappen was not aware of why he was being called into the pits. This led a confused and annoyed Max Verstappen to come onto the radio and question his team’s decision.
