Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev is in top form at the moment. He has dominated over the recent events during the US Open Series. He won the title in Montreal in the past week and has booked a spot in the semifinal of the Cincinnati Open 2021. 

Recently, Daniil Medvedev spoke about his best match in an ATP 1000 event. He made a revelation stating that it was during the ATP Rome Masters when Roger Federer took on Rafael Nadal in the final. The match was decided in five sets, with the Spaniard prevailing 7-6 in the fifth and final set of that match.

Reflecting on that match, Medvedev stated, “I was young, so I’m not sure I saw it all, but it was in Rome [in 2006] where Rafa played Roger and they played this crazy five-set final. I was so young that I don’t even remember who won, I would [guess] Rafa, but saving match points. This match was crazy.”

Daniil Medvedev reached his second Grand Slam final this year

Reflecting on the Russian star players season so far, he began competing in Melbourne and was the finalist, losing to Novak Djokovic in the final. After that, he won his first main draw match at the French Open and came as far as the quarterfinal.

At the Wimbledon Championships, he lost in the fourth round. However, these results achieved by him in this season have been the best performances in his career. 

During this time of the season on the hardcourts, Daniil brings his best tennis to show. He has been a finalist at the US Open in 2019, losing to Rafael Nadal in five sets. At the moment, he is looking strong and it will take some doing for the other players to get past him. We wish him the best of luck for the upcoming matches.
