Many franchises are holding pre-draft workouts for potential picks on 23rd June. One of the famous names on this year’s draft list is Shaquille O’Neal‘s son, Shareef O’Neal. Shaq will be very pleased to know that his former employers are willing to give his son a workout and the possibility of playing with one of his favorite players, Lebron James, must be exciting.

O’Neal To Be Given Workout By The Lakers

O’Neal started his career at UCLA before having heart surgery early in his career. He transferred to LCU, his dad’s college, but struggled to contribute. He isn’t the biggest prospect this year but will be looking to impress the teams willing to give him a workout. One of those teams is the Los Angeles Lakers, the team where his dad’s jersey is hanging in the rafters.

In three collegiate seasons, O’Neal averaged 2.6 points in 11 minutes a game. These aren’t numbers to swoon over, but he will be hoping the Lakers will be impressed with his workout. O’Neal also has scheduled visits with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Atlanta Hawks, and Washington Wizards.

The Lakers currently don’t have a pick of their own, because they traded those away for Anthony Davis. The Lakers could buy or trade for a draft pick to select O’Neal, or, sign him to the summer league roster if he goes undrafted. Standing at 6’10, he is tall enough to impress a team looking for some size. Unfortunately, O’Neal is a poor shooter as his free throw shooting entails. He made just 24 of his 50 attempts from the charity stripe as a college basketball player.
