The 29-year-old Brazilian right back, who can also play as a winger and a defensive midfielder, joined Bordeaux from Fluminense in 2012. He made 31 appearances for Bordeaux last season, scoring one and assisting three goals in the progress.
Sevilla qualified for the Champions League 2015-16 group stages, despite finishing fifth in La Liga last term, by virtue of their Europa League triumph against Dnipro in the final. And that might have been one of the major factors for Mariano to move to the Spanish club.

Sevilla have been busy in this transfer window, as they look to increase the depth of their squad to compete both domestically as well as in Europe. Mariano is their eighth signing of this summer, having already captured big players like Steven Nzonzi from Stoke City, Adil Rami from AC Milan and Ciro Immobile on loan from Borussia Dortmund.
But Sevilla have also lost some important players, including Aleix Vidal to Barcelona, Stephane Mbia to Trabzonspor and Carlos Bacca to AC Milan.
