Manchester United have suffered a heavy dent in their pursuit to sign Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte as he recently signed a new five-year deal with the club.
The 21-year old French defender has put pen to paper & extended his deal at the Spanish club by five seasons, slapping a €50m release clause.
Laporte is now tied with the Basque club till 2019, following a season where he made 49 appearances, where we saw him grow as a footballer & raise his stature at the club. He became an important part of a team which finished 7th in La Liga and was also the runner-up in the Spanish Cup. The player also played for France at the under-21 level.

He posted this in a social website after signing the deal, which shows how committed & happy he is with his current club.
The French defender had been heavily linked with Manchester United all through this season but this new deal means that any club looking to secure his signature will have to spend a big sum of money to lure him away from Athletic Bilbao.
