Manchester City returned to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over West Ham on Sunday to cement fourth spot in the Premier League.
Sergio Aguero and a James Collins own goal sealed City’s first win in three, moving them to within one point of the third-placed Manchester United and seven points ahead of Liverpool in fifth.
Manuel Pellegrini’s men were in front after 18 minutes through a bizarre own goal from James Collins.
The Irons’ centre-back tried to hook out Jesus Navas’ cross but could only loop his sliced clearance over Adrian’s head and into his own net. The home side were two to the good, ten minutes before halftime when Sergio Aguero notched his 20th goal of the season.
City are now just a point off United in third and have extended the gap to Liverpool, who have a game in hand, to seven points.
West Ham have only won once in their last ten league games.
