Manchester United have often been subject to a lot of criticism in terms of their lack of imagination on the pitch this season. Former Red Devil midfielder Paul Scholes feels that problem can be solved by signing a special player in the ilk of Gareth Bale or Neymar this summer.
Speaking to the media ahead of the Champions League final in Kyiv on Saturday, Scholes said,” If he [Jose Mourinho] can change something through the summer, buy new players and he can find a way of playing that maybe is a little bit more entertaining then who knows, you don?t know,? said Scholes. A lot can happen over the summer. Let?s hope we can get close again. We need some good attacking players. I think the nucleus of the squad is quite good, there are some really good young attacking players.”
Coincidentally, the Welshman was decisive in the final for Real Madrid, settling the tie with a spectacular brace. Immediately after the game, he also declared that he was unhappy with his limited playing time in the squad and indicated that he was open to a move back to the Premier League, where he started his career. Manchester United are frontrunners in securing his signature, as per most media outlets.
Elaborating on his thoughts, the midfielder also told,”?I think he possibly needs a bit of help with [Romelu] Lukaku. He seems like the only out-and-out center-forward he?s got. It?s hard to know what?s available, would Gareth Bale be available? People like Neymar will they be available? I don?t know. These are the type of special players that I think United need.?
Bale has a release clause of 200 million pounds which is certainly a steep price to ask while Neymar’s clause with Paris St. Germain is close to a billion pounds. Of the two, the former is more likely to be seen at Old Trafford next season. Keep watching this space for more.
