Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic is all set to  sign a new shoe deal with the Jordan brand. The Athletic first reported on Saturday that Doncic was nearing a “lucrative” endorsement contract.

According to ESPN, Doncic is close to a five-year deal with Jordan Brand, and the deal is “all but official.”

It might only be his second season in NBA but Doncic has set the league alight this season. The 20-year old has been consistently scoring and has piled up quite a few triple doubles this season. His previous sneaker deal with Nike- the parent brand of Jordan ended in September 2019. He has, since then, been a sneaker free agent.

Puma and Under Armour were reported to be interested in Doncic’ signature, but it seems it will be the Jordan brand that will claim the 20-year old. The deal, as per the reports, will not begin with a signature model, but he could get one as a bonus, depending upon his performance in the league.

Doncic’s performance has put him as a contender for the MVP, but unfortunately, an ankle injury has kept him out of the last few games.  The exact timeline that he is to remain out is not yet known.

Before his injury, Doncic was almost single-handedly carrying the Mavericks. Many thought, his injury might make the Mavericks lose their way a little, but they have been far from that situation. The rest of the Mavericks stepped up to the situation and Mavericks have put up a few good performances in Doncic’s absence.

However, Dallas will be eagerly waiting for the 20-year old sensation , whose numbers speak for himself.
