Barcelona have confirmed that head coach Luis Enrique has extended his contract as Barcelona coach till the summer of 2017.
The contract extension cleared any ambiguity about Luis Enrique’s future at the Catalan side, as only one year remained on his original contract.
The club tweeted: “President Bartomeu has announced Luis Enrique’s contract extension for another season.”

Luis Enrique, a former Barcelona player as well, has done wonders in his first season at the club as manager, leading them to the treble. Their 3-1 victory over Juventus in the Champions League Final on Saturday night, meant that they finished the season as the winners of the Champions League, La Liga, and Copa Del Rey.
Luis Enrique told Barcelona’s website: “How could we be anything other than very happy? After the last year we’ve experienced, with difficulties but with a great final result, we’re more than excited about returning in the hope of winning titles.
“Anything that comes close will be more than exciting.”
The season was reminiscent of Pep Guardiola’s first season as manager at the club back in 2009, where he too achieved a similar feat by leading his players to the treble.
If this comparison is anything to go by, then the future looks bright for Luis Enrique as Barcelona manager, especially with the players he has at his disposal.
