The 2022 LPGA Tour season has started with the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions. And the event has had an enthralling start, with Nelly Korda leading the event with a score of -10. However, there are plenty of players who are three to four strokes behind going into the weekend. 

Notably, there are only 29 players on the field as only the winners from the previous season are eligible for the event. Hence, there is no cut after 36-holes like every LPGA Tour event. Prize money for the 2022 Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions

The 2022 Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions has a prize purse of $1.5 million. Notably, the organizers have increased the purse this year as previously it was $1.2 million. Moreover, the winner of the event will receive $225,000, which is the standard 15 percent payout according to the LPGA Tour’s prize money distribution chart.

Since this is a champions event, the field has players like Nelly Korda, Jessica Korda, Gaby Lopez, and others. And after round two, Nelly Korda leads the event with a stroke while Danielle Kang and Gaby Lopez are T2 with a score of -9.

Notably, apart from monetary benefits, there are a few other perks as well, especially for the winner. The winner of the tournament will get 500 Race to the CME Globe points. Moreover, they will also receive a two-year exemption on the LPGA Tour and other major events. Hence, everyone in the field is looking to get their hands on the cup.

Additionally, with only champion players of the last season in the field, the competitiveness has increased.
