2022 GainBridge LPGA Course Preview: All You Need to Know About the Boca Rio Golf Club

The second event of the 2022 LPGA Tour is all set to begin on January 27th. The top women golfers will now compete at the Gainbridge LPGA at Boca Rio, which is also the first full-field event of the season. The first event was a limited field, with only the previous year’s champions competing. 

This week we will see all the players like the Korda sisters, Lexi Thompson, Inbee Park, Danielle Kang, and others don the course. Hence, fans are hopeful of a competitive performance on display. Moreover, the venue for the event is decent, and if the weather permits, then we may even see plenty of birdies.

The Boca Rio Golf Club is all set to host the event this week. Notably, this is a 72 par 6701 yards course, which is long enough, especially in women’s golf. Moreover, the grass used on the greens and tees is Tifgrand and Poa trivial, while the rough and fairways contain 419 and perennial rye.

Furthermore, the rough height will be approximately 2.50, which is decent. Hence, the rough won’t be diabolic, and players will have a chance to make it to the green even after missing the fairway. Additionally, the speed of the greens will be around 12 throughout the week.

There are plenty of bunkers and water hazards in play this week. Hence, players need to get their selection of clubs to perfection as one tiny mistake can cause huge trouble. Notably, there are around four par-3s on the course where players will have a chance of scoring birdies. Hence, players need to concentrate on their iron shots along with putting.
