It has been a sad couple of days for the New York Jets, and no, the Aaron Rodgers trade didn’t fall through but rather we are presented with another sporting ‘what if’ for the ages. Despite their relentless pursuit of Odell Beckham Jr, the New York Jets had to fold to the Baltimore Ravens. While several reputable sources around the league shared OBJ’s plans of joining forces with Rodgers in New York, they stand corrected as Baltimore officially closed the deal.

But could losing Odell Beckham Jr. to the Ravens, throw a wrench in the Jets’ acquisition of Aaron Rodgers? In his prior conversations with the Jets front office, Rodgers had specifically named OBJ as one of the players he would love to play with. So where does that relationship stand? Is Aaron Rodgers still destined to land in New York? Questions such as these have emerged ever since the news broke, and a certain Sports Radiocaster blames the Jets GM.

Craig Carton was one of the many who believed Odell Beckham Jr’s landing destination to be New York. The man even proclaimed with sheer confidence that Beckham would be a Jet on his hit sports radio show Carton & Roberts. Well as things stand, OBJ is bound to the Baltimore Ravens for the next year, proving many sports insiders including Carton wrong.

Looking back on his comments, Carton said, “Got a great show today, unless you are a Jets fan realizing it is all falling apart right before our eyes,

Carton believes that the Jets’ front office must be beside themselves, as losing Odell Beckham Jr. to a franchise that has its own qualms with its marquee QB1, Lamar Jackson, is a bad look.

Additionally, Carton appears to be quite skeptical of Rodgers as well, “Now, we have to wonder, is Aaron Rodgers gone too? Because if the Jets couldn’t close on OBJ, who would’ve been their second or third-best receiver, to the Ravens, a dysfunctional mess with a pissed-off quarterback who might not even play this year, how are you gonna get Aaron Rodgers?

Carton believes that the Jets GM, Joe Douglas messed up as he earlier announced in front of a New York crowd that Rodgers was indeed joining. According to Carton, Douglas has painted a target on his back and would be the first to be fired if the Aaron Rodgers deal does fall short. The Jets had been clearing salary space and making necessary adjustments for both OBJ and Rodgers and while they have saved $18 million for the OBJ deal, where does Rodgers stand on all this?

Did OBJ get what he wanted?

Earlier reports of Odell Beckham Jr. looking for a $20 million dollar deal were doing the rounds. Since then, OBJ has continued keeping his head above the water while negotiating an ideal situation for himself. While the New York Jets deal didn’t particularly work out, it definitely put OBJ back on the map.

The Baltimore Ravens have signed Odell Beckham Jr. to a one-year contract, with $15 million guaranteed and up to $18 million if its incentives are maxed out. The contract perfectly keeps in line with the number OBJ was making at the peak of his prowess with the New York Giants.
