Paul Pierce just became the latest player to retire among a generation of players including Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett. Several of the greats took to social media congratulating Pierce on his 19 years long illustrious career in the NBA.

Paul Pierce is truly the only player of his kind in this era of basketball. Mashing in swagger and a sense of calmness and coming onto the basketball court with an obsession to win, that’s “The Truth” folks!
The Players’s Tribune released a video soon after his last minutes on an NBA court featuring several of his friends, teammates and even his arch rivals.

Pierce played for 19 long seasons, winning a championship with the Boston Celtics in 2008 and was named the NBA Finals MVP too. His last significant mark on a basketball game was back in round 1 of the 2014 NBA playoffs when the Brooklyn Nets beat the Toronto Raptors on a game-winning block by Pierce.

Pierce might not have a stat-heavy career retrospective but he has a game heavy career retrospective. His throwback grit and grind style of play has clearly left a significant impact on the game of basketball.
