With the current contract expiring in 2018, the Liverpool play-maker Philippe Coutinho is due signing a new four-and-a-half year contract. Manger Brendan Rodgers seems to pave his path around the Brazilian star and at the same time, he plans to tie all the crucial players in long term deals as he looks forward to ace Liverpool to the top 4.

Liverpool also aims to bid for the Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez (rated £20 million), who has been out of the field for over nine months owing to a serious knee injury. The Saints player is now set to return next week. Meanwhile, the Reds face serious competition against the champions, Manchester City and long-time admirers Tottenham.

Lazio and Parma have been in talks with the Italian’s agent, Mino Raiola, over a potential loan for Mario Balotelli. However, the agent insisted that the striker wants to stay and fight for a first team place at Anfield.

Rodgers will fight the Liverpool ownership to secure a new contract for the right-back Glen Johnson whose current deal is expiring this summer. Barcelona stopper, Ter Stegen’s desperation for first team action landed him with another six month loan deal with Liverpool. Since he moved out of Borussia Monchengladbach, accepting an offer of £10 million last summer, the German is yet to make an appearance in La Liga. With Rodgers is still in the market for a keeper, the sealing of this loan could prove to be the perfect solution for the Reds if the German stopper is assured of the chance to play regularly.

Rodgers believes that Jordan Henderson will be the apt successor of Liverpool’s captaincy. He reckons the tunnel bust-up with Diego Costa to be Henderson’s desire to protect and support his team. The gaffer also believes that the current vice-captain has developed crucial leadership qualities and has the potential to replace legendary Steven Gerrard eventually.

Valencia is set to counterattack Liverpool by bidding for James Milner with a whopping £4 million. With the English professional’s contract ending at the Etihad this summer, Liverpool wanted him to replace Gerrard.

Liverpool will now offer Lyon striker Alexander Lacazette in the coming days, as reported by a French website Le10sport.
