Lionel Messi Ventures into the Fashion Industry, Presents his New Clothing Range in Barcelona

Footballing superstar Lionel Messi is now set to enter into the fashion industry. On Thursday, Messi presented his new clothing range at Paseo de Gracia. The clothing range was named “Messi”.

As per the Sport, Messi’s sister Maria Sol Messi was responsible for the project, along with help from brother Rodrigo.

“It’s a dream come true,” Maris Sol Messi told the crowd. “Fashion is what I like the most, ever since I was a child, and it was always a dream of mine to be involved with a clothing brand. I studied a lot to dedicate myself to this profession. When an opportunity such as this one presents itself, you have to take advantage of it.”

Messi greeted the crowd, and did not speak anything.

Messi, who is till recovering from a calf injury, had the taken a day off from football to present the “Messi” brand of clothes. He had sustained the injury before the start of the season, when he arrived late, after Copa America. He is yet to feature in a league match for Barcelona this season. His first involvement on the football pitch came in Tuesday’s goalless draw against Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League, where he featured for the final 30 minutes, without any notable involvement. The fact that the match remained goalless was largely due to Barcelona’s goalkeeper Ter Stegen, who saved a penalty in the dying embers of the match. Barcelona have been clearly struggling in absence of their talismanic captain. Messi is however, expected to be back for the league match against Granada on Saturday.
