With Ronald Koeman’s disastrous run ending on a sour note, Barcelona appointed another legend, Xavi Hernández. The former Barca midfielder has returned to Nou Camp to steady the ship. The club has been in crisis for some time now. But, this feels like the right moment for the former payer to come in. Likewise, he revealed how former teammate Lionel Messi welcomed him back to the club.

Xavi received a text from Lionel Messi

Arguably the greatest player in the world, Messi left Barcelona for PSG this season amidst the club’s financial problems. Although Messi never wanted to leave, the club could not renew the Argentinian’s contract, forcing him to leave.

“Messi sent me a message offering me good luck. He is the best player in the history of the club but he is not here anymore. We have the players that we have and we will work with them,” said Xavi.

Those were encouraging words from Messi, but Xavi wanted to remain focused on the job and spoke about the plans for the club. Accordingly, he revealed how he waited for the perfect moment to come back to Barcelona.

Turning down Brazil for Barcelona!

The former Barcelona midfielder won eight La Liga titles and four Champions League with the club back in his playing days. His eye to pick a pass from the tightest of spots remains astonishing. A trio of Iniesta, Xavi, and Busquets dominated the club soccer scenario for a long time. Significantly, Pep Guardiola coached his team to perfection to win many titles. With all the experience he has, it seemed perfect for him to come back to the club.

He revealed how he turned down the offer to coach the Brazilian national team while waiting for a chance to come back to his boyhood club. Dreams do come true.
