Lewis Hamilton and George Russell are all set to feature the “Pride Star” on their helmets for the whole month of June. The Pride Star will also feature on the nose of the W13 for the races in Azerbaijan, Canada, and Britain. Supporting the LGBTQ+ community, the Brackley team hopes to raise awareness around Pride month and what it stands for.
The press release also had more in store for the community. Mercedes’ Accelerate 25 program promotes diversity and inclusivity in the team itself. Fans will also get to see LGBTQ+ people who work in the team and what pride means for them across the month of June. The eight-time constructors’ champions believe that everyone should be respected and appreciated for the individual they are.

Lewis Hamilton’s weekend in Qatar GP in 2021
This is not the first time Lewis Hamilton has done such a gesture. Last year in Qatar during the weekend, he wore a Pride-themed helmet. “It’s been amazing to see the positive response,” said the seven-time world champion. “I’ve been trying to think, ‘what is it that I can do?’. I’m only one person; the sport and all the drivers together, and athletes, can do more.”
“In the last race I finally came up with the idea and luckily in a really short space of time I got my helmet painter to send me a clip of this image with the flag over my helmet and I was like ‘that’s what I want for the next race so can you make it happen?’.”
Can Lewis Hamilton fight for an eighth world title?
Lewis Hamilton is currently 34 points behind his new teammate George Russell. While the car for the most part has been uncompetitive, Hamilton quite hasn’t been in tune with the W13. Struggling to get grips with new machinery and bad luck have hampered Hamilton from mounting an attack for an eighth world driver’s title.

However, Red Bull’s Helmut Marko thinks it’s only a matter of time. “If Mercedes suddenly dominate everything again, Hamilton is also back,” he said to oe24.
However, Helmut doesn’t think that Russell will be leading the way in Mercedes. The Austrian believes that Lewis Hamilton has had very bad luck that created the deficit. Ill-timed Safety Cars and Red Flags have contributed to Lewis’s poor form.
