Every Formula One driver has had to start their racing career somewhere, and Lewis Hamilton is no exception. In the early stages of their careers, all drivers participated in karting championships for a few years before their rise up the pecking order. Only the best 20 drivers actually reach the zenith of motorsport, Formula One.
Speaking of Lewis Hamilton, a video emerged of his early karting days, when many witnessed his talent. At the 1996 Highland Spring Formula Cadet class race, he was battling in the top 10 and slowly edging his way up the order. As the laps ticked by, he made his way to 4th, as the three race leaders duelled among themselves.
Then, on the final lap, Chris Rogers, Benjamin Moss and Andrew Twist went three-wide for a move into the lead. However, Lewis Hamilton made it 4-wide and somehow managed to snatch the lead with a brilliant move around the outside.

The 11-year old judged his move to perfection, especially when some of the drivers ahead, collided. The collision slowed them down and Hamilton was not about to decline an open invitation.
Lewis Hamilton through the years
Of course, Lewis Hamilton has come a long way since then and is now a 6-time Formula One champion. His career skyrocketed from 1996 and he became a top notch racer. Soon, he raced in Formula Renault UK, British Formula 3, Formula Renault 2000, Formula 3 Euro series.
After winning the 2006 GP2 championship, McLaren promoted him to Formula One a year later. Although he missed out on the championship, he finally clinched it in 2008. After a few years with the Woking squad, he moved to Mercedes in 2013, with a second title in 2014, and the rest is history.
