LeBron James was part of the famous ‘Redeem Team’ that went and ruled the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, and Chris Bosh were all part of the Olympic squad. Bron finally spoke about the documentary that will air on Netflix on October 7, titled’ The Redeem Team.’ It would be interesting to watch the documentary as it would somewhat be a tribute to the late Kobe Bryant, who was a dear friend of LeBron James.

In a surprising outing at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, the United States of America fell short and only brought home the Bronze medal. It was disappointing to see a star-studded All-NBA roster come up short on the international stage. In the next iteration of the prestigious tournament, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, with the help of Kobe, led the ‘Redeem Team to an Olympic Gold in 2008 and redeemed their reputation. Now, Wade and Bron are co-producing a documentary based on the exploits of the ‘Redeem Team’ that will air on Netflix.
The ‘Redeem Team’ is possibly a spin on ‘The Dream Team’ that featured Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, and Scottie Pippen. There are several similarities between the two Olympic teams. The 1992 team was revolutionary, as it was the first ever Olympic ensemble to feature NBA players and not Collegiate players.
LeBron James reacts to the 2008 Olympics documentary on Netflix
Dwyane Wade reported that the documentary has been one of his most desired projects. One can expect unreleased footage, unseen clips, and stories that went unreported from the upcoming documentary. Hopefully, we get to see the late Kobe Bryant in action on television again. He was one of the leaders of that roster, and a documentary would be incomplete without him. Moreover, LeBron James recently broke his silence about the documentary on Twitter.

He said, “For me, that was a big year, 2008. I had to kind of redeem myself because everybody thought I was done.”
Kobe Bryant was the showstopper in the Olympics, scoring 20 points in the finals of the Olympics, with 13 points coming in clutch time. The ‘Redeem Team’ meant redemption for Kobe as well, as he had just lost to the Boston Celtics in the 2008 NBA Finals.
