One of the most controversial figures in MMA, Colby Covington fought the most important battle of his fight career. He squared off against the Nigerian Nightmare, Kamaru Usman with the welterweight title on the line.

A lot was stake on the outcome of this fight. Colby Covington had made a ton of rivals on his way to the title shot thanks to his trash talking. Though he became a fan attraction for UFC, he did put a target on his back every time he went into the octagon. He was able to overcome all the adversities until he faced the champion.

Kamaru Usman put on a jaw-breaking performance in UFC 245 and successfully defended his title in a highly anticipated grudge match. Though Covington put on a valiant effort it was not enough at the end as he suffered his second loss on that night.

Fans who did not agree with the ideology and methods of Colby Covington to promote a fight showed no mercy on Covington. And to be fair, Colby saw it coming. We witnessed the amount of mockery Ben Askren received after his loss to Jorge Masvidal, hence it was going to be the same with Colby too.

However, Colby put up an incredible performance and took one of the best welterweights of all time, Kamaru Usman to the deep water. On one judges’ scorecard, he was even winning the fight comfortably. However, for someone as competitive as Colby a loss at this level is a tough pill to swallow and that can be seen from his reactions after the fight.
