Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has recently taken over as the Chelsea manager. He is a former striker and was known to be a prolific player.

After leaving Chelsea, there was a massive hullabaloo over his signing with New York City FC, but parent club Manchester City snapped him up before he could head to American shores. Finally, after the Frank Lampard transfer mess was cleared up, he finally got a chance to play for New York City FC.

Finally, he retired at the end of the 2017 season and set his sights on coaching. His first major assignment was Derby County, and he quickly established them as giant killers. For example, in September 2018, Derby stunned Manchester City in the EFL Cup, knocking them out.

In 2019, after <a href="https://www.essentiallysports.com/tag/maurizio-sarri/">Maurizio Sarri</a> was given the boot, Chelsea held talks with Frank Lampard to take over the mantle. Admittedly though, his season got off to a rocky start when they got thrashed 4-0 by Manchester United. However, New York City FC's parent club, Manchester City snapped him up for a six-month deal ending in January 2015. Initially reported as a loan, reports emerged on 31 December 2014 that Lampard had signed a short-term contract with the club as a free agent with his MLS contract not to start until the end of his Man City stint.

Then, Frank Lampard extended his stay in Manchester, which peeved off New York City fans to no end. The club was accused of dishonesty for using the player in their promotional material.

On 9 January, Manchester City admitted that Lampard had never signed a two-year contract with New York City FC. Instead, it was a non-binding "commitment" to join the team.

In 2000, Lampard, Rio Ferdinand and <a title="Kieron Dyer" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kieron_Dyer">Kieron Dyer</a> appeared on a sex tape at the holiday resort in Cyprus.
