At the age of 41, Kurt Busch is facing an uncertain future. This kind of situation has been in place long before Trackhouse Racing bought a charter from Chip Ganassi Racing. However, the 2004 Cup Series champion has repeatedly proven that age is just a number. This is evident from the fact that he reached Victory Lane at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Owing to this, there will likely be teams who will want to sign him.

According to some reported estimates, the older Busch is worth $3.4 million per season. The bad news is that it is a near 25% decrease in value from the 2020 season. To make matters worse, projections suggest that his value can drop to $2.294 million in 2022.

The question is, which teams will be the best fit for the veteran driver?

The likeliest candidates are 23XI Racing and Trackhouse Racing. In all honesty, 23XI could make the most sense, as they are seeking expansion beyond its marquee car. It also helps that 23XI has an engineering partnership with Joe Gibbs Racing, where his younger brother Kyle is racing.

What works in favor of Kurt Busch?

It is one mentioning that one of his strengths is his on-track defence, especially during race restarts. Unfortunately, his stock has plummeted, placing him below the likes of Ryan Blaney, Alex Bowman, and Christopher Bell. Although this drop is a bit alarming, Kurt Busch is still performing decently in other statistics.

Additionally, the 23XI Racing team will greatly benefit from Busch Sr’s expertise and experience. Furthermore, the outfit will be thrilled to have a former Cup Series champion in their stable. Even Bubba Wallace can learn a lot from Busch and it will help improve his skills behind the wheel. Wallace is a hugely talented driver and Kurt Busch seems like just the right driver to guide him in the right direction.
