Kron Gracie is Here to Stay! Shows Heart of a Champion Against Cub Swanson at UFC Tampa

Kron Gracie fought Cub Swanson in the co-main event of UFC Tampa at the featherweight division. It’s safe to say that this was the fight of the night. There were a lot of doubts coming into this fight.

Kron Gracie is well known for his jiu-jitsu. He has lived up to the name of legendary Gracie family with his achievements in the world of Jiu-Jitsu. However, in the world of mixed martial arts he was very new. He only had 4 fights before his fight against Cub Swanson, which was also his second fight in UFC.

Though Gracie had a successful UFC debut against Alex Caceres via submission, the MMA community was not so sure about his skills on the feet. To be fair, he did not even need to show his striking abilities in his UFC debut against Alex Caceres as he got the win with a quick submission. However, now that his fight against Cub Swanson is in the books, it’s safe to conclude that Kron Gracie is here to stay.

The fight was a bran burner. Cub Swanson was the superior striker between the two and he came up with a perfect game plan for the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, Kron Gracie. Swanson kept using the jabs, leg kicks and hooks to the body for most of the match. Swanson was landing clean and hard with precision. “Stick and Move” was the fight Swanson had decided to fight against Kron Gracie and he did it very well.

However, Kron Gracie even after getting hit with those brutal body shots kept moving forward and tried to close the distance. In the clinches Kron Gracie was having more success. Gracie even tried to take the fight to the ground. He even got Swanson down in the final minute of the fight, but he could not secure a position to work on any submission. Ont he other hand, Swanson had no interest in taking the fight to the ground with the Jiu-Jitsu specialist, Kron Gracie.

Cub Swanson won the fight via unanimous decision as he outstroked Gracie by miles. There is a huge difference between number of strikes landed by Gracie and Swanson. However, even with the defeat Gracie has earned all the rights to keep his heads high for putting up such an performance against a quality opponent like Cub Swanson.

On the other hand this was a much needed victory for UFC veteran, Cub Swanson after a few losses in the featherweight division.
