New Inter Milan signing Geoffrey Kondogbia insists that the Serie A side have performed well in the pre-season so far, and believes that the squad has the quality to compete for the league title this season. Kondogbia also stated that Inter coach Roberto Mancini was one of main reasons for his move to the Italian side.
Kondogbia was signed by Inter for €35 million this summer. The 22-year-old Frenchman was a key figure in the AS Monaco side last season, as the Ligue 1 side finished third to qualify for the Champions League play-offs.

On the other hand, Inter Milan suffered another disappointing season, as they finished eighth in the league. But Kondogbia is confident about his new side’s chances of winning the Scudetto this term, claiming that Inter can compete with the likes of Juventus and Roma.

“It is still early to say, we are still preparing, but the team has all the qualities to win the title,” Kondogbia told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “But we have to work more and be focused throughout the season. Again, it’s too early to say, but we will do everything to try and win the title.”
Kondogbia is looking forward to settle into the squad as quickly as possible, and has stated that the prospect of working with Roberto Mancini was a catalyst in his transfer from Monaco.

“It is true that I chose Inter also for the coach and I always wanted to play in this league. It is important to improve even more and gaining Mancini’s confidence is really important to me. I am very happy here. It is a beautiful setting, it is a group with quality players. I like everything and I hope to settle into this squad quickly.”
Inter Milan have suffered a downfall since their 2010 Champions League triumph under Jose Mourinho. But the Nerazzurri have been busy this summer, rebuilding the side with new signings including Miranda from Atletico Madrid, Barcelona’s Martin Montoya and Jeison Murillo from Granada.
