Although Virat Kohli was not on the field with the rest of the RCB team, he was there in the dugout to cheer them on. When quizzed about the possibility of playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the near future, Kohli remained vague. He said that he will only take the field when he is a ‘120% fit’. He clarified that the main aim is the Champions Trophy and the Indian Cricket team. But he also said that he would like to get back on the pitch as soon as possible
Kohli was also happy about seeing Yuvraj Singh’s blistering form. “As I said the priority is Indian cricket. He got a hundred against England and also got runs in Kolkata. The confidence has just rubbed off.” said the Indian captain. It was a bittersweet moment for the injured RCB captain because the player that he brought back to the Indian Cricket team was making the most of his chances, but at the same time, Kohli’s own team were being torn apart by the southpaw.
Yuvraj nearly departed early in the innings when he edged a shot towards Sreenath Aravind, only for the RCB player to drop the catch. Singh was only on 26 runs at that time and he took advantage of the lifeline to score his half-century. Finally at 62 runs, he was clean bowled by RCB newcomer Tymal Mills. But the damage had already been done, the Sunrisers had notched up 207 runs.
