Mychal Thompson was himself an NBA player who was the Portland Trail Blazers’ first overall pick in the 1978 NBA Draft. He later played for San Antonio Spurs(1986-1987), Los Angeles Lakers (1987-1991), and Juvecaserta Basket (1991–1992). He became an NBA champion in the second season of his NBA career. His next championship came even quicker when the Trail Blazers won the very next season.
The University of Minnesota then retired his #43 jersey as the highest honor. Post-retirement, the man worked as a commentator.
Julie Thompson- Klay’s mother:
Julie Thompson (née Leslie) was an American former college volleyball player for the University of San Francisco of West Coast Conference and later married Mychal Thompson. She gave birth to three sons, Mychel (1988), Klay (1990), and Trayce (1991). Klay, like every other son in the world, is extremely thankful for all the sacrifices his mother made to make him the athlete he is today.

Laura Harrier- Klay Thompson’s girlfriend:
Laura Harrier is a 31-YO American actress and model. According to playersiwves.com, Klay and Laura began dating in 2018, and their relationship only surfaced in August 2019 when the paparazzi caught them hanging out. Their vacation pictures went viral as they seemed joyous boating alone in some faraway lake.
Harrier had her major film debut playing Peter Parker’s one-time love interest Liz Allan in Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017).
