Though Yorkshire Diamonds sit just above the bottom of the table, they still have a slight opportunity to make it to the semi-finals, depending on the results of other matches apart from their own. They will be facing Southern Vipers in the 22nd match of the Kia Super League 2019. Vipers are currently second in the table and a win would take them a step closer to the semi-final spot.

The Southern Vipers vs Yorkshire Diamonds match is scheduled for Wednesday evening, after another exciting match in the afternoon between Western Storm and Surrey Stars.

Team News:

Southern Vipers

Their loss in the previous match against table toppers was a close one, and a there were a few positives as well in the loss. Daniel Wyatt, who has been brilliant in this tournament, scored a half century. Stefanie Taylor has been a star performer with both bat and ball, and her all-round capabilities make her a good choice for captain in fantasy leagues. Natasha Farrant has picked up 9 wickets in the tournament so far, though she missed a couple of games Captain and Wicket-keeper Tammy Beaumount can also score big, and can be a good choice in fantasy leagues.

Yorkshire Diamonds

In the last match, Yorkshire Diamonds pulled out a thrilling victory to take Surrey Stars further away from the top. Jemimah Rodrigues was the star for Yorkshire in the match, and should be backed to come good once again. Wicket-keeper Alyssa Healy, also looked good in the previous match. Hollie Armitage has also been amongst runs, and was looking good in the previous match until she was run out.

Predicted Playing XI

Southern Vipers

Stafanie Taylor, Danielle Wyatt, Tammy Beaumont (c), Suzie Bates, Natasha Farrant, Amanda Wellington, Thea Brookes, Carla Rudd (wk), Maia Bouchier, Fi Morris, Isabelle Wong

Injury and Availability News:

As of now, there do not seem to be any injury concerns. Both the teams look extremely strong and should be an exciting contest. Helen Fenby did not play the previous game, but is expected to come back into the team, and amongst wickets. Yorkshire will once again look at their batting to come good as their bowlers haven’t been on top their form. The Vipers’ Natasha Farrant is another player who wasn’t involved in the previous game but is expected to be back.

Weather and pitch report

Wednesday is expected to be a cloudy day in Southampton. The Rose Bowl has always been a good pitch to bat on, but the match being played in the evening, ball tends to swing under the lights, and chasing might be difficult. That is also what the average scores suggest with the first innings average being significantly higher than second innings.

H2H record

In the last four meetings between the two teams, Yorkshire have managed only one win. A win though, is absolutely necessary for them to stay in the competition.
