With 10 points ahead of the next best, Western Storm have dominated the Kia Super League 2019, while Lancashire Thunder sit at the extreme opposite end with just one point in five games. Though out of the competition, the Thunders would like to prove a point or two against a difficult opposition.

Apart from Lancashire Thunder vs Western Storm, Sunday will also see two other matches- Lougborough Lighting vs Yorkshire Diamonds and Southern Vipers vs Surrey Stars, making it a Super Sunday for fans.

Match Details:

The match between Lancashire Thunder and Western Storm of the Kia Super League 2019 will take place at the Boughton Hall Cricket Club Ground in Chester at 1:30 PM GMT on Sunday, August 18.

Team News:

Lancashire Thunder

Harmanpreet Kaur is probably the only bright spot among the batsmen in a rather dismal tounament for the Thunders with 160 runs in 5 matches. Likewise, Emma Lamb, with her 7 wickets in 5 matches, looked a little good in the tournament so far. With the team looking to start winning at least after a bad start, captain Kate Cross and spinner Sophie Ecclestone are tow more players to keep an eye on.

Western Storm

Star opener and last season’s highest run-scorer, Smriti Mandhana is yet to score big, but the kind of player she is, she would be a safe bet. Captain Heather Knight has a batting average of 58 this season, and could be one of the picks for captain. Wicket-keeper batter Rachael Priest is another player who can change the game with the bat.

England international Fran Wilson is another of their many inform players, while the bowling department looks in good shape with Freya Davies, Claire Nicholas and Deepti Sharma to name a few.

Predicted Playing XI

Lancashire Thunder

Harmanpreet Kaur, Sune Luus, Kate Cross (c), Alex Hartley, Sophie Ecclestone, Emma Lamb, Tahlia McGrath, Eleanor Threlkeld (wk), Sophia Dunkley Brown, Evelyn Jones, Georgie Boyce

Injury and Availability News:

The only injured thing in the bottom placed Thunders would be their form, while it is quite opposite with the Storms. As of now, there are no real injury concerns from both the sides.

Weather and pitch report

The predicted temperature in Chester is around 19 degree celcius. Though it is supposed to be cloudy all day, very less chance of rain is anticipated. If the sky remains overcast and the sun doesn’t absorb the moisture off the pitch, it should suit swing bowling and teams might bowl first to extract it.

H2H record

The last five matches between these two team have all been won by Western Storm. Lancashire Thunder, hence would not only want to open their account in the tournament but also change their record against the Storms.
