UFC 244 was stacked with some incredible fights from top to bottom. From Corey Anderson knocking out Johnny Walker to Jorge Masvidal dominating Nate Diaz to win the BMF title, last night was phenomenal for the fight fans. However even with all those exciting fights, Kevin Lee made sure that he sends the message to the masses loud and clear.
Former Lightweight title contender, Kevin Lee has seen some ups and downs in recent years. He came very close to capture the interim lightweight title against Tony Ferguson, he had a great win against Edson Barboza, however, the results did not go in his favor when he fought Al Iaquinta, which forced him to move up to welterweight. Lee would face defeat on his welterweight debut against UFC veteran, Rafael Dos Anjos. Well, the win against Gregor Gillespie who was coming into the fight with an impressive unbeaten record has certainly helped Lee make a statement.

Talking about the current scenario in the lightweight division and where he fits in, Lee said:
“When you look at this division after Khabib and Tony fight who you gonna have a fight. Gaethje, I mean are you really giving him a shot? I am here to show that it’s gonna be me, I am the one.”
Training with Firas Zahabi has worked out perfectly for Kevin Lee. He came out with a brilliant game plan, and he executed it to perfection. Kevin Lee is planning to get back to training as soon as possible and fight for the title against the winner of Khabib Numragomedov vs Tony Ferguson. Lee continued:
” I am ready to get it in again. Next year I am fighting for the title. By July, I am just ready for them to make Tony Ferguson vs Khabib happen and that winner got to see me.”

Apart from the title fight, Kevin Lee also wished to take on Islam Makhachev whom he sees as a great future opponent. “You ask anybody who has seen Islam fight or seen him train, they will say that guy has real potential and he can really fight. So that’s a fight that really interests me.” Lee continued.
After the win over Gregor Gillespie, there are some exciting fights for Kevin Lee at the lightweight division. Paul Felder and Dan Hooker are coming from a win in their last fight and both of them would present a tough challenge to Lee. If Kevin Lee manages to stack up a couple of equally impressive wins then a title shot for him would be undeniable.
