Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant haven’t yet played a substantial role in helping the Brooklyn Nets on-court. However, their influence and relationships off-court have surely impacted the Nets organization.
When the Brooklyn Nets hired Steve Nash as their new coach, it was rumored that the decision was made because of Steve’s relations with Durant and Irving. Kevin played with the GSW organization where Nash had served as a player development consultant. Irving, on the other hand, knows Nash from his initial days in the NBA.

The two stars recently met virtually where they discussed certain topics that had raised a lot of eyebrows. To begin with, the two NBA Champions rebutted the claim that they were behind the removal of Kenny Atkinson from the post of head coach. They then discussed how they view the idea of coaching.
In the hour-long interview, Kyrie said, “We don’t need someone to come in with their coaching philosophy, change everything we’re doing, change up the wheel, and we’re going to start running on the first day of practice. No!” Durant and Irving might have a lot of say in matters, and that should make Nash’s job as a coach interesting. Kyrie even suggested, “It’s going to change the way we see coaches. I don’t really see us having a head coach. KD could be a head coach; I could be a head coach.”
The two geniuses with their astonishing basketball IQ even raised the idea that Jacque Vaughn, the lead assistant coach, could have acted as a head coach.

Durant closed the conversation and said, “A lot of people may question our leadership, overall or just us two. But when me and Ky talked about being coached every single day, that’s leading by example. A lot our teammates are going to follow suit once they see we’re getting coached and continue to ask questions about the game.”
The Brooklyn Nets will soon rise to glory
The Nets were the #7 seed in the Eastern Conference, even without their recent biggest signings. They had Caris LeVert and Jarrett Allen performing decently in the 2019-20 season. To add to that, they can now draft the likes of Desmond Bane, Jalen Smith, Tyrell Terry, Precious Achiuwa, or Isaiah Joe in the coming off-season.

Kyrie Irving has also recovered from his injury. His ball-handling skills, ability to create space, and to get elite shooting can work wonders for the Nets. He was also averaging a career-high 27.4 points in the 20 games that he played this season. It remains to be seen if he and KD can drag the Nets all the way to the top.
