Two impressive goals by either side in the last ten games meant that the game between New Castle United and Manchester City ended as a 2-2 draw on Saturday at the St. James Park, New Castle.

Manchester City opened the scoring in the early start of Saturday’s Premier League through Raheem Sterling, but just after three minutes, New Castle equalised? through Jetro Willems.

Manchester City dominated in possession as they usually do, but were left vulnerable to aerial attacks.

The ball came out to the Belgian at the edge of the box off a weak clearance from New Casltle. De Bruyne controlled the ball with his chest and volleyed it first time into the net ending in a sublime goal.

But once again, New Castle had a response that seemed equally impressive. In what seemed like a training ground when Jonjo Shelvey slotted home after Newcastle played a set piece short.

“At the end we shouldn?t concede the free-kick and Shelvey made the difference,” Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said after the game.

“Shelvey put it in the corner, [but] we could have avoided it in that position.”

Guardiola said that his team played at a “good level” despite the draw.

“We played at a good level,? he said after the game as per Goal. ?Defending set-pieces and everything, we move the ball well, we found spaces outside, especially with Benjamin [Mendy], we arrive in front of goal many, many times but we couldn?t score.”

After Saturday’s results, City found themselves 11 points behind Liverpool, who managed a victory over Brighton later in the evening.

“It was a tight game like we expected, they defend solid, had 10 players in the box,” he further said.

“It?s one of those days, they defend so deep, we play so good. Maybe in the first half we should move more left-right-right-left, but we create enough chances. We conceded two short on target and concede two goals.

“The way we played was really good, we created chances and 10 players in the box is not easy, [Martin] Dubravka made good saves.”
