Japanese star Kei Nishikori has not played tennis for a long time due to an elbow injury he sustained in 2019. And now he won’t be able to return any time soon due to the coronavirus pandemic. Despite this, he has not stopped himself from reviewing his matches and building strategies to beat other players. Check it out.

Kei Nishikori Has Worked Out Some Tactics

To win some more titles on the ATP, Kei Nishikori has been watching a lot of his previous matches. And he has come up with some tactics against one particular player – Novak Djokovic. In a recent talk, Kei spoke about this.

“I’ve reviewed and re-evaluated my matches from a different point of view. Djokovic is a clutch player, he rarely makes mistakes, but now I have some tactics against him to try in my head.”

Kei has not had a great record against Djokovic. He has lost to him 16 times and has beaten him only twice. Hopefully, some of the tactics he has come up with will change that when they play each other next.

Since Kei has come up with tactics for Novak we can expect him to come up with the same to beat other players as well. This is because he wants to do something he has never done before – win a Grand Slam.

The Japanese star has come close to doing it way back in 2014 when he reached the final of the US Open. Sadly, he lost to Marin Cilic in straight sets. He will definitely be hoping to win it next time and in the process, become the first Asian player to win a Grand Slam singles’ title.

Kei has plenty of time to prepare as the ATP Tour is only going to return in August. He can then implement his new tactics and hopefully achieve his goal of becoming a Grand Slam champion.
