Home/Olympics

Professional gaming or gaming, in general, has reached newer heights over the course of time. The future of gaming, streaming, and eSports is also bright considering gaming is now fairly accessible to a lot of people. The year 2020 practically forced everyone inside their homes due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Owing to this, a lot of people took to gaming and streaming as their primary source of entertainment which eventually resulted in a huge growth in both industries. Now, in a recent interview, popular streamer Ninja expressed his wish to have eSports Olympics.

Ninja wants an ‘E-lympics’ to promote gaming and eSports

Speaking to GQ Australia, Ninja expressed his views about the global gaming situation and if gaming has the potential to be a part of the Olympics. However, he had a better idea. Ninja said “Sure, but, how about just make an eSports Olympics? How about that? Make an ‘E-lympics’. We don’t need gaming to be a bona fide sport. That whole conversation is, in my opinion, very over-hyped. There are already are so many die hard “Olympianites” who are like, “we don’t want them tainting it”, it’s like, “alright, fine.” We don’t want to be in there. We’ll just create our own.”

This is definitely something that the gaming community as a whole can brainstorm upon. If this indeed turns into a reality, the eSports community will definitely expand its reach even further. Even as of now, the global eSports community is growing by the day. An Olympic-level event for games will provide an international platform for players from all over the world to showcase their skills.
