There is a chance that you might see Jrue Holiday in new colours in near future. New Orleans Pelicans have reportedly made Holiday available for trade.

Marc Stein of the New York Times reported that Pelicans have put the 29-year old up for trade, but will not be available cheaply.

“Jrue Holiday is indeed available via trade, league sources say, a tweet from Steni’s twitter handle read. “It would surely cost a significant amount to pry him away from the Pels, but this is a notable change in status given how unavailable Holiday was to interested teams last season.”

Recently, executive vice-president of New Orleans Pelicans David Griffin had said that he and Holiday had a laugh when they though that a story about Holiday being available for the trade would soon come up.

“So this is funny actually,” he had said. “The irony in this is pretty funny. I was with Jrue (Holiday) yesterday. We had a conversation, and I explained exactly what I just said to you all about December 15th. I said, ‘I can write it down in blood that there will be a story that we should trade you or are trying to trade you.’ It just so happened that it came the very next day, so we actually laughed about it.”

However, he did not say that he would be declining offers for Holiday.

Holiday’s trade, if it does happen, will be out of an offer that Griffin CB cannot resist. There could be a significant addition to the squad with a player who would help the Pels to become a contender in NBA, and hence keep the likes Zion Williomson in the roster.

The Pelicans are currently struggling with their key players injured. They are currently sitting 14th in the Western Conference with just six wins in 26 games.

While Holiday could be up for trade, it is reported that Brandon Ingram and Zion Wiliamson are among the “untouchables.”
