Former undisputed heavyweight champ Evander Holyfield has proclaimed Tyson Fury as the top man in the heavyweight division.
Evander Holyfield had almost no hesitation while answering. When asked who he thinks is the current best in the heavyweight division, he almost instantaneously took Tyson Fury’s name. Tyson Fury is the current WBC champ and is well worth this pick.
Discussing what makes Fury his top choice, Holyfield said, “Tyson Fury. He can fight! The difference in people is how hard they work. [Anthony] Joshua may be the better boxer of all of them but, with Fury, you never know. He has long arms and throws shots that you don’t see. He can make adjustments. Boxing is mental – it’s about who is stronger in the mind, that outweighs physical things. People thought they could beat me because of how I look. With Fury, he doesn’t look like he can do it but he keeps proving that he can.”

Speaking with SkySports he even discussed the possibility of making a comeback. Probably for a charitable cause to help raise some money. The 57 year is ready to star in an exhibition contest. He said a trilogy exhibition against Mike Tyson would be fun.
Back in their time, the two met on two occasions in the 90s and those bouts were great fun to watch. Evander Holyfield said, “I’m going to box some exhibitions and get in shape. I don’t know [if an exhibition with Tyson can be done], you would have to ask him! I wouldn’t ask nobody to do anything they don’t want to do. But it’s for charity. If we can work something out that works for everybody then it’s a win-win-win.”
He even spoke of the infamous ear-biting incident and said, “When people look at me, I know they are looking at my ear. People think I got the whole ear bit off! People don’t understand the relationship I have with Tyson. Tyson and I were both on the losing squad trying to make the Olympic team in 1984, which tells you how tough amateur boxing was in my day. When Tyson became heavyweight champion of the world, it made me realize that I could do it. Tyson and I had sparred and he was a tough guy even back then when he was 17 and I was 21.”
