Conor McGregor makes his much anticipated UFC return in UFC 246 against Donald Cerrone in a welterweight bout. Though Conor was away from the sport for a long time he is back and now he has his targets on the UFC titles. Including the title fight at the lightweight division, Conor is also aiming at a fight with Kamaru Usman for the welterweight title. However, Jorge Masvidal has a problem with that.
With a phenomenal 2019, Jorge Masvidal is looking at some big fights in 2020. After Colby Covington’s loss at UFC 245, Jorge Masvidal is next in line for the title shot against Kamaru Usman. The super-fight with Conor McGregor is also on the table even if Conor has stated that he wants the UFC titles over the BMF title. And there is the unfinished business with Nate Diaz and Nick Diaz.

What’s next for Masvidal?
With all these fights ahead of him Jorge Masvidal is hopeful for a super fight with Conor McGregor. However, if that’s off the table, then he wants the title shot next. Masvidal believes Conor has no business at welterweight and its title race.
In a recent interview with Submission Radio, when asked about Conor’s ambitions to get the welterweight title, Jorge Masvidal dismissed Conor’s chances saying:
“It’s cute, man. You can’t do anything at 170. You have some type of power at 155 you could skip I don’t know who and that’s cool. But at 170 that wouldn’t be a conversation. Just based on his record alone. He is like 1-1 in 170.”
Masvidal makes it clear that if he gets to fight Conor next then the title shot is up for grabs for the other welterweights in UFC. However, if Conor does not want to fight Masvidal is coming for the welterweight title.
“You have to go through me to get to the title shot. I dictate who gets the next title shot and when that will be and that’s just simple. If I am fighting Conor maybe somebody else gets the title shot. I am not playing Conor I am fighting right for this title.” explained Masvidal.

Though Masvidal does not think that Conor will be able to beat the top welterweights in UFC he seems to be favoring Conor in his next fight against Donald Cerrone. However, Masvidal is not counting out the veteran, Cowboy either. He stated:
“Conor is great off the block. He’s phenomenal off the start. Cowboy is a slow starter. Conor has tremendous speed and timing in the beginning, good power, so I think he can catch him early. If Cowboy comes out to grapple like he has in the past with decent strikers and even good grapplers like Rick Story, who he was able to take down and create a lot of offense like that… if that Cowboy comes out, he can mix things up real nice.”
