With UFC  parting ways with the USADA after 2023, Jon Jones has put forth a new demand altogether. He wants the Nevada State Athletic Commission to assert his win against Cormier in 2017. Daniel Cormier during his appearance at the MMA Hour, shared his reflection on the whole situation.

Cormier and Jones have had some of the biggest rivalries in the UFC. With Cormier retired from the sport and Jones on a break, it will be interesting to see how things line up between them afterward. Let us delve into the video to find out what the netizens had to say.

Cormier was handed the bitter taste of defeat by Jones via a knockout to win the 205-pound crown in a rematch at UFC 214. But it soon came to light that Jones’ pre-fight drug test sample tested positive for the anabolic steroid Turinabol. Thus, the win didn’t stick long and was soon overturned to a no-contest. Jones was then banned for 15 months after the USADA made it clear that he did not take the substance knowingly.

As such, fans did not appreciate when Cormier said: “We cannot recreate history, we can’t go back and say I beat USADA. It’s not like that it did not happen.” This did not sit well with the fans and they rushed to voice their concern on an Instagram post by @mmafighting, that featured Cormier addressing the MMA Hour host, Ariel Helwani.

Here’s how the fans reacted :

A fan surely is looking forward to a rematch and commented

“So why not get a rematch at your weight class now? Both have been out for years, so what’s the excuse now”

Another brought up the impact Jones has on Cormier

“Jon is still rent-free in his head”

One even mentioned about Cormier’s incident

“DC acts like he didn’t have unnaturally high levels of testosterone before but got excused by USADA for it was way shadier than the picograms Jones had”

Another reminded  that he never really has beaten Jones

“Jon may have never beat USADA but DC has never beaten Jon either soooo”

One mentioned how he lost three times against Jones

“Pffff. He made me look like a baby three times”

He even received advice to leave Jones alone

“DC just can’t leave it alone lol”

Yet in a turn of events, one fan supported Cormier and commented

“He’s right 100%. Jon did cheat. He got caught, payed the price, came back and became the Champion again. And regardless, Jon is arguably the best of all time”

Ultimately, the fans’ opinions remain varied. Nonetheless, one cannot deny the fact that Jon Jones is one of the best fighters in the UFC, and let’s take a look at what’s in store for him next.
