Thanks to his expanding fan base, John Cena is the most popular wrestler of all time. He has motivated countless WWE fans over the years with his slogans, including “Rise Above Hate,” “Never Give Up,” and many others. His supporters have shown him immense love and admiration. However, there have been a few exceptions.

The Champ’s toughest night came during his bout against Rob Van Dam at ECW One-Night Stand PVV. A sucker for showboating, Cena has a habit of flinging his t-shirt into the audience. The crowd, however, was so enraged with him that when he tossed his t-shirt into the crowd, fans did not accept it and instead flung it back at him.

RVD opens up about his match against John Cena

RVD reveals on the podcast that this was his favorite match and that many people approached him and asked him about it. Additionally, he stated no one expected the audience to respond in such a manner. RVD, on the other hand, was confident that it was his day and that the entire building was his.

He stated, “I couldn’t have predicted that they [Fans] were gonna feel so much that way. They were gonna be like no fu*k your T-shirt, throw it back I mean you see me laughing. When you watch that I thought that was funny and great.”

“What are the chances that a fan that could have a John Cena sure because they’re all real fans at heart would do that and then boom the second guy does it again. You know, the third guy wipes his a** with. You know it’s like holy crap this is great. I had no idea it was going to be like that John knew that he was in for a rough night and he was going to get sh*t on a lot. [1:58-2:35],” he added.

The outcome of the match also wasn’t in Cena’s favor. He lost the WWE Championship to Rob Van Dam that evening. Following interference from Edge, Van Dam delivered the Five-Star Frog Splash to pin John Cena.
