The youngest contestant inside the top-100 ATP Rankings, Jannik Sinner spoke about the advice received from the Russian tennis ace, Maria Sharapova. “The best advice I ever got was from Maria Sharapova, who was training with my coach Riccardo Piatti.  I asked her if at my age, she was waiting for the unforced error or if she went for her shots? She picked the second option,” the 18-year-old, Jannik Sinner said.

By the time Maria Sharapova turned 18, she had a Wimbledon title to her name and was ranked inside the top-five WTA Rankings. Besides that, the dextrous teenager with unbelievable hand and eye coordination won her next Slam in at US Open 2006.

Presently, the young soul from Italy, Jannik Sinner is swinging his racquets on his home turf of Milan at NextGen ATP Finals 2019.  He has won both his matches in Italy by defeating Frances Tiafoe and Mikael Ymer and now he has reserved his semifinals berth in Milan.

“I felt well on court today,” Jannik Sinner said. “It was a perfect start and I was serving well. I tried to push the ball immediately. I’m very happy. I’m just trying my best. The younger guys in Italy are all improving a lot, so hopefully, I’m giving them a little bit of inspiration.” Before his semifinal match at the NextGen ATP Finals, Sinner will play against Ugo Humbert in his last group stage match.

In Belgium last month, Jannik Sinner achieved a 6-3, 6-2 over the top-seed Gael Monfils at Antwerp Open 2019 and later credited his four-set taxing match against Stan Wawrinka at the New York major this year.

He played the first-ever Grand Slam match of his career at US Open 2019, opened against the three-time Grand Slam champion, Stan Wawrinka and lost in four sets to the former US Open champion.
