Akshar Patel’s success in IPL and CLT20 makes us wonder: Is he better than our star all rounder, Sir Jadeja? Jadeja has been fairly successful with Indian team in both ODI and T20 and is a regular member of the Indian squad. If we look closely, both Jadeja and Akshar Patel are similar kind of cricketers, left arm spinners, handy with bat. It is really difficult to decide who the better of the two is and who will be ahead in their career a few years from now.
One cannot simply question Akshar’s excellence in cricket. And I am sure, every cricket enthusiast must have been impressed by his progress from the very beginning of the IPL to the CLT20 now. Akshar Patel was a standout performer in IPL picking up 17 wickets with a mind boggling economy rate of 6.13.Although he is not a big turner of bowl mixing up lengths and bowling the arm bowl has been really successful for him. He topped the economy charts outclassing likes of Narine, Steyn and Johnson etc. which is quite a record for such a young talent.
Primarily a bowler, Akshar has time and again delivered with his bat. Be his match-winning 42 runs against Delhi Daredevils in IPL or the 9 ball 23 against Cobras in the ongoing CLT20 competition, Akshar Patel has already shown he can bowl in any conditions and is a good all-round package for any team. He is surely banging the doors of Indian team with his consistent performances.
Jadeja needs no introduction, certainly the best all-rounder India currently has. Jadeja has already made a leap from an underdog to the spinner of choice for MS Dhoni. The fact that Dhoni picked him before Ashwin says a lot about the confidence captain has in him. The crafty left arm spinner is consistent in doing his job of bowling quickly in the middle overs. His abilities to find the gaps and smash the bowl all over the park make him a real asset. Add to it a good throwing arm and safe hands and you get the package any captain is happy to have in the mix.
Jadeja is currently the all-rounder India has been waiting for since ages and my bet’s on him. I am sure he will continue to accomplish more laurels for himself and the team but Akshar Patel is not far behind. With two young talented all-rounders competing for a place, great days lie ahead for the team.
