Simona Halep won the Prague Open Final in straight sets. However, the win was not easy as Mertens battled hard in the second set. Ultimately, it was the Romanian who prevailed 6-2 7-5. She talked about it and said, “She’s a great opponent and it is tough to play against her. She takes the ball very quick but I just fought till the end.”
Halep went on to talk about how she felt after the long break due to the coronavirus. She said, “I had one of the best weeks even if my tennis was not at the highest level. I enjoyed it, I am happy to be on court after this big break.”
The Romanian also said that she might return for the event next year which is great. However, that is not the main question on people’s minds. They are wondering about her participation at the US Open this year. When asked about her decision, here’s what Halep had to say, “Monday I will have it. Now, it’s too fast to take a decision. I just want to enjoy this victory and then I will have a thought about US Open.”
