Fabio Fognini To Undergo Surgery
Surgery is the last thing any athlete wants to do which is why we all would expect Fabio Fognini to have a good reason for going through with this and he does. In a recent tweet, he said,
“I have been having a problem with my left ankle for three and a half years now. It’s an issue I have learned to cope with. Then my right ankle started playing up in the past 2 years as well. I thought the various issues would go away during the lockdown but when I resumed training they were still there.”
After many years of dealing with such a problem, Fabio would obviously want to be free of it. And he has made this decision after a lot of thinking as he said,
“After a medical examination and a long discussion with my team, I have decided to undergo arthroscopic surgery. I believe it’s the right thing to do while the Tour is on this enforced break.”

Last year, he won his first Masters 1000 title at the Monte-Carlo Masters. And in the process of winning it, he beat the ‘King of Clay’ Rafael Nadal. And what makes it more amazing is that he won it despite the problems with his ankle.
When he returns to playing tennis pain-free, we can expect him to win more titles like this and maybe even his first Grand Slam title, which is his ultimate goal.
