Scuderia Ferrari has been suffering one nightmare after another. Even in the engine department, things are not looking too good for them. This has now gotten to a stage where their customer teams have become disgruntled.

Apparently, Haas’ Team Principal, Guenther Steiner, desperately wants Ferrari to improve its power unit. He issued a warning claiming that time is running out, especially with a “challenging” weekend at Monza looming for the Ferrari-powered cars.

The Italian giants possess the slowest power unit this season, and last weekend’s Belgian Grand Prix is a testament to the same. This was because at least six of the slowest eight qualifiers had Ferrari engines.

To make matters worse, all of them were close to the bottom six in the race, except for Antonio Giovinazzi, who crashed.

Steiner revealed that he is constantly in touch with Ferrari and needling them for updates. He is also keen to know about the Italian manufacturer’s progress for 2021.

What did Steiner say about Ferrari?

“The clock is running because this year for sure we cannot do anything about the engine and I don’t know exactly where they are for next year,” said Steiner.

“I know that they are working on it because, as you can imagine, I ask that question every day, every hour. I don’t have a definitive answer and it is also difficult to be the spokesperson for something you are not in control of.

To make matters more complicated, Ferrari is not expecting any more power this year. In other words, while the other teams are steadily improving, the Ferrari-powered teams may stagnate.

It is also worth noting that Steiner felt a little satisfaction watching his drivers battling with the Ferrari factory drivers. He confessed, “Obviously you get a little satisfaction out of it because at least you are racing something, but it is where we are.

“To be honest, nobody is coming here to try and fight to beat somebody for 13th or 12th position. That’s not why you come here. It is like when you are out there on Sunday afternoon.

“At least you race something, you feel excited about it and then when you think about it. You are really doing something that is not very satisfying. Beating someone who is struggling as well at the moment.”
