Dominic Thiem On The US Open

While tennis fans were excited about the US Open being played, some players were not sure about the event. This is because of the rising COVID-19 cases in the United States and the restrictions at the Grand Slam event. Dominic Thiem spoke about this in an interview in Berlin and said,

“I believe that the decision is not in our hands, but in those of the American Tennis Federation, the American government and the mayor of New York. The whole thing is on very shaky legs.”

Clearly, the Austrian is still not sure about this event like so many other players. However, he feels that if the event is played, nobody has to worry about safety. In the interview, he said,

“But I also believe that if it is played, it will be safe for everyone. We’ll definitely be in a huge bubble and have no contact with the outside world.”

The Austrian has come close to achieving this goal on numerous occasions. He has reached 2 French Open finals and one Australian Open final. The Australian Open final was his best opportunity to win his first Slam but he sadly lost the match in a thrilling five-setter.

The Austrian is definitely going to be training so that he can finally win a Slam. And hopefully, he will be able to do it at this year’s US Open.
